What’s the Wireless Networking?
What’s the best WiFi antenna for me? |
To improving your WIFI signal |
You can boost your WiFi signal range using our WIFI-Link Antennas. You can do this in two ways, by boosting the transmission or reception: |
Transmit WIFI Signal: |
• Boost the range of your Router/AP’s WIFI signal |
The regular access point (AP) or router comes with 2 dBi dipole omni antennas with a range of about 30-60FT (actual range depends on the environment). The dipole antennas can be replaced with WIFI-Link high-gain antennas for further coverage and stronger signals. |
You will need to remove one of the dipole antennas on the router or access point (AP), and that is where the RF coaxial cable assembly goes. The cables connect the antenna to the router or AP. The distance from the antenna to the router determines the length of the cable you need. |

The Coaxial Low Loss Cables we carry are made in our ISO-certified factory in Taiwan. The high quality with the good performance can be reduced the transmission loss. We have 3 types of cables to choose from: LLC100 (2.70mm), LLC200 (4.95mm), and LLC400 (10.30mm). |

Receive WIFI Signal: |
• Extend the range of your PC/Laptop's WiFi signal |
The average range for built-in WIFI on the laptops is about 150-300 ft. The range can be less due to different environments. That is why WIFI-Link created the external USB dongle adapter. The USB adapter comes with a 5-dbi dipole antenna which has about 150-210 ft of coverage (actual range depends on the environment).
You can replace the 5-dbi dipole antennas with higher gain antennas. The HIGH POWER USB adapter boosts the ranges and strengthens the signals for high-gain antennas. WIFI-Link carries different types of high-gain antennas; and, please refer to the below pictures. |
The RF coaxial cable connects the USB dongle to the WIFI-Link high-gain antennas. We strongly suggest keeping the laptop power adapter plugged in for ultimate performance. The length of the cable depends on the location of the laptop and antenna. |

Equipment Considerations: |
• Antenna: |
The antenna you need depends on:
(1) Range you need: Remember we can only give you a clear line-of-sight range; obstacles to the signal such as walls, or trees reduce the signal considerably.
(2) Coverage: WIFI-Link can provide antennas with a 360° (omni-directional) signal coverage. For even longer range you need a directional antenna (PANEL or GRID antennas)
(3) Suitability: You should also check the size of the antenna and if it is suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
(4) WIFI-Link Antennas Guide: This table will give you the approximate range of each antenna.
Example: DIPOLE type antenna with a 5dBi gain has an indoor range of 20m. |

• Cable: |
You need a cable (WIFI-Link Pre-made LLC Cable) to run from the antenna to your router/AP or WIFI-Link USB Adapter. The shorter the cable the better to minimise signal loss.
» LLC100 cable: diameter 2.70mm & length up to 1 meter » LLC200 cable: diameter 4.97mm & length up to 7 meter
» LLC400 cable: diameter 10.30mm & length up to 30 meter
PS: Please chose cable carefully, we DO NOT accept cable returned. |
• WIFI USB Adapter: |
If you want to extend the wifi signal range from your PC/Laptop, you need a USB Adapter. Use a USB adapter with our antenna via Pre-made LLC cable (N male to RP SMA male type). |
• AP (Access Point): |
If you want to attach an antenna to your router but it doesn't have a detachable antenna, you will need an AP. An AP is a router with detachable antenna(s) and slightly different settings. You can plug this AP into the router via internet cable(RJ45 cable) |
• Antenna Mounting & Base: |
You may want to mount your antenna outside to get the best possible signal or if the antenna is large. If you want to use indoor you may need a base to mount it on. |
• Connectors: |
If you are connecting our antenna to another company's Router/AP or Wi-Fi usb adapter, you must make sure you order the correct cable with the correct connectors for the plugs. |
