hi,i have a dlink wireless router.i want to extend its range to 2-3 kilometers.pls let me know what do i need to buy apart from omni antenna and cable.

Regarding about you question,
1.if i use a 2.4Ghz Square Grid Parabolic Antenna 24dBi does the range increase by 20-30 kilometers?what else do i need apart from antenna and cable wire.
ANS: Even the Grid antenna can reach about 20-30km, however you still need the power to push the wireless LAN signal, so that you need the ampilifer which is about 200mw-500mw, depend on what do you need. But you have to build the antenna in the highest place also as less as cover between both place will be better.
2.if yes do i need any receaver to connect to my laptop?
ANS: If your Laptop already have the Centron, you don.t need any receiver to contect with the signal. However if you would like to improve the signal, you can use USB antenna or the wireless LAN card to improvie the receive signal, you can get more information from these webpage

For the RF Cable part,
If the length is over 7m, we will suggest that you use LLC 200 cable, http://www.wifi-link.com/product.php?class1_id=225&class2_id=261&class3_id=272

Also it would be better if you use the lightning protector (http://www.wifi-link.com/product.php?action=product&class1_id=13&class2_id=30&class3_id=377&product_id=183) which to decrease the damage from lightning.
Normally the AP will already have about 40mw, should be no problem for sending the signal to 2km-3km way, However you have to make sure there is no cover between each place also your antenna have to build on the highest place of the building or house. other wise the signal will be very weak.
