hello, i have recently bought a new dell inspiron 1505 and it comes with a pro wireless wifi internet. I am looking for something that will give me the ability to receive a signal from 1 to 2 miles away if possible. I just wanted to ask you which one you think would be best suited for my needs.

Probably you can try the USB adpater with 7dbi dipole antenna to receive the signal, however if the signal is not strong enough from the transmit side or many people use in the same time, the signal will still be weak or disconnect.
The signal range probably will be about 1/4mile, for more than 1mile it will be difficult.
