Hi - I run a small cabin-rental business and am interested in setting up free-included WiFi 802.11b/g access for my renters to use.
The area in question is about 1/2 mile in radius from the office which is more or less centrally located. The terrain is slightly hilly and fairly heavily wooded.
I am interested in design and Bill Of Materials necessary to construct this network. I assume a central router/AP to a fairly tall antenna (omni-directional - 2.4ghz - 15dbi?). Assume the renters will use PCMI or built-in wireless adapters or a USB adapter I will provide.
Will I need antennas on all the cabins down to some kind of adapter that will plug PCMI or USB into their laptops - or should it work simply with their integraded or PCMI adapters with their Laptops?
Many thanks for thoughts/suggestions.... Mark

You can build the Omni antenna 15dbi for your renters, but some please probably won.t easy to catch the signal especially there are many wall or trees.
When your wireless system is open for every one with no password, your renters can easy to use the wireless network.
For some place which can not get the signal very well, you can ask them to add the antenna.
Thank you very much
