For my Senior design project at Penn State I am looking to set up a wireless camera system to monitor a heavily wooded area. I have identified the cameras and will be using rechargeable batteries and solar panels for power. The problem I still need to solve is the wireless part. I am looking for a system that will be able to transmit in an omnidirectional pattern and with a range of at least 1km (through heavily wooded areas). The system needs to be mobile, data needs to have ability to be encrypted, all nodes need to tie back to a central server (location). The central server will have an internet connection for outside access and viewing of photos. The cameras take only still pictures which are stored on an flash memory card.
Can you help me identify the wireless part?
